Advantages of Megna Steel Wall Vinyl Liner Pools

Pennsylvania and North Carolina’s climates put real demands on a pool: sub-zero winters, UV-heavy summers, and freeze-thaw cycles that stress materials season after season. The Megna vinyl liners we install are engineered specifically for that kind of long-term use. A clear topcoat protects the print pattern from abrasion and soil adhesion, and the vinyl is rated to survive temperatures down to -20 degrees F without cracking, which matters here.

What separates a Megna liner from a standard product comes down to fabrication. Every liner is custom-designed using CAD to the exact specifications of your pool, then cut with a patented rotary cutting machine for a precise fit. Megna uses high-frequency molecular welding to seal every liner. This is a process with over 50 years of industry use that produces a bond stronger than the surrounding material itself. The steel wall panels are 14-gauge galvanized North American steel with clinch-lock technology, assembled without welds in the panel construction for rust resistance that holds up over time.

Megna Pools: The Manufacturer Behind the Product

We install steel wall vinyl liner pools from Megna Pools, one of the largest fabricators of inground steel pool panels, kits, and vinyl swimming pool liners in the industry. Megna was established in 2004 by pool industry professionals, each with over 20 years of experience at the time of founding. Every Megna product is custom-made by craftsmen averaging over 30 years in the swimming pool industry.

Megna offers three liner series: the Premier Series (thicker than a standard 20 mil liner at no added cost), the 30ga Series (the thickest and longest-lasting option), and Mix n Match (12 tile patterns matched to 7 wall and floor combinations). Across all three lines, Megna offers one of the widest selections of vinyl liner fashions available. This means the pool you plan is the pool you get, down to the visual details.

What’s Included in the Base Package

Every vinyl liner pool installation that we complete is built around a fully itemized base package. There are no vague line items. Every Hayward component carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty when installed by Desmond Pools & Spas. That applies to the filter, pump, chlorinator, and light. The plumbing carries a 1-year warranty with our installation. Before the liner goes in, we hand-trowel a vermiculite and Portland cement base across both the shallow and deep sections. This method has been used in vinyl liner pool construction for over 30 years and cushions the liner, helping it hold its shape underfoot.

The base package includes:

  • Vinyl liner pattern choice
  • Pool excavation
  • Concrete pad or pavers for pool plumbing system
  • Hayward Filter – Sand (Hayward – 3-year warranty with Desmond Pools & Spas install)
  • Hayward Pump – Variable Speed (Hayward – 3-year warranty with Desmond Pools & Spas install)
  • Hayward In-Line Chlorinator (Hayward – 3-year warranty with Desmond Pools & Spas install)
  • Hayward Light (Hayward – 3-year warranty with Desmond Pools & Spas install)
  • Returns: 2 to 3 (size dictates the number of returns)
  • Skimmer: 1
  • Plumbing including flexible pipe (Desmond Pools & Spas – 1-year warranty with install)
  • Built with 14-gauge-thick steel for style and shape
  • Concrete collar continuously poured to lock walls
  • Hand-troweled vermiculite pool base under the liner: vermiculite mixed with Portland cement provides a durable, protective bottom in both shallow and deep sections
  • Coping: standard aluminum painted white (required if you don’t cantilever the edge of the pool deck)
  • Completely set and backfilled
  • Grade and rough rake yard upon completion
  • Safety fencing during construction
  • Maintenance care package (pole, hose, vacuum head, skimmer head, brush head, and water test strips)
  • Manufacturer’s pool warranty

What’s Not in the Base Package

We’re upfront about scope. The items below aren’t included in the base package, and each one is handled directly by you or by a separate contractor you hire and pay. Knowing this before the project starts can remove one of the most common sources of budget surprises.

  • Pool Chemicals: Pool chemicals must be added to bring the pool to pool-neutral balance after fill. Desmond Pools & Spas can supply standard chemicals at additional cost.
  • Concrete Work: Desmond Pools & Spas doesn’t perform or subcontract concrete work. Concrete is priced and paid directly to a concrete contractor you arrange. Pool concrete standard is 3 feet, or more if you prefer a wider surround.
  • Pool Water Fill: Desmond Pools & Spas doesn’t perform or subcontract water fill. City water typically requires 1 to 2 truckloads to set the liner. Well water requires trucking in the full fill. Water fill is priced and paid directly to a water company.
  • Electrical Work: Electrical work isn’t performed or subcontracted by Desmond Pools & Spas. All electrical is priced and paid directly to a licensed electrical contractor you select.
  • Gas Lines: Natural gas or propane heater lines aren’t part of our scope. Contact a licensed gas installer or your local gas company for that portion of the project.
  • Pool Permitting: Permitting is the homeowner’s responsibility. Municipalities vary in their requirements. Contact your local township or borough office before breaking ground. Inspections are coordinated by the contractor once permits are in place.
  • Pool Fencing: Fencing beyond the safety fencing installed during construction isn’t subcontracted by Desmond Pools & Spas. Pennsylvania’s Uniform Construction Code requires a permanent enclosure around inground pools. Your local zoning office can confirm any additional requirements specific to your property.
